THE LOCALS- YOU NEVER HAVE FUN

YOU NEVER HAVE FUN
YES OR NO

recorded in 1980 this great single is the only record by the Locals.
Lineup consists of
Mike Swanson- guitar/vocals
Bill Rohlfing- bass/vocals
Bob Jay- Guitar
Lou Selmi- drums
I'm assuming Griffy was a private NYC label that only did this one single. There are tons of credits on the back sleeve but not much info online about any of the band members or producers. "You Never Have Fun" also appears on the Japanese (CD) comp "Home Runs vol. 3".

454 - OK LET'S ROCK

1980. Rave Records.

1. OK LET'S ROCK

2. CAN'T KEEP AWAY

Consisting of Peter Burg, Chris Judge and Larry Goldberg, 454 were a powerpop trio from Palisades, CA. The band name, 454, was taken from a common telephone prefix in the Palisades area. Their first performances took place in December of 1979 when Peter was 25, Chris was 17 and Larry was only 15. Amounting to approximately 35 gigs, they played regularly in the southern California area until May of 1981. Their only single, OK Let's Rock b/w Can't Keep Away, was recorded at Cat Tracks Recording Studio in Hollywood, CA in 1980 and was produced by Pat Hildebrand. Aside from these two songs, the band had approximately 18 other original songs, though their sets would often include many covers songs ranging from classics (Elvis, Beatles, Chuck Berry) to contemporaries (20/20, Plimsouls, Tom Petty).

In July of 2008, 454 played a reunion show in Calabasas, CA. Another reunion show is planned for this year.

JUSTIN TROUBLE - PONYTAIL

1980. Casino Records CA 002.

1. PONYTAIL

2. NO LOVE

Here's the first single by Justin Trouble, later known as Justin Love. The record was produced by Johnny Thunders and the b-side 'No Love' was co-written by Trouble and Thunders.

RADIO STARS - FROM A RABBIT

1978. Chiswick Records NS 36.
Produced by Martin Gordon.

1. FROM A RABBIT

2. THE BEAST NO. 2

Radio Stars were formed out of the demise of Jet (some of the members also spent time in Sparks). Jet were left without a contract after an amazing, but financially unsuccessful album but the name change was able to land them a new deal. As Radio Stars, they seemed to struggle to find their own sound and as a result the singles are pretty diverse. Their first single 'Dirty Pictures' is pretty poppy with hints of punk, but 'From A Rabbit' find the band returning to their glam roots.

This single is neither rare nor expensive; and copies can be had for a few bucks over at gemm.com

ADAM ROTH AND HIS BAND OF MEN- DOWN THE SHORE OST

NOW YOU'RE RUNNIN'
SPEED IT UP
I JUST WANNA HAVE SOME FUN
DOWN THE SHORE

I have never seen this movie and I'm not proud of it!  This is the soundtrack to a 1982 teen flick called " Beach House" or "Down the Shore" . There isn't really any information online about Adam Roth but the band on this record is pretty great at times.  The only info I can find about this movie is at IMDB. It looks like Adam Roth plays a character in the movie called "Googie".

DE CYLINDERS UNREALEASED RECORDINGS

BLACK AND WHITE
HOT RADIATOR
COMPELLED BY NECESSITY
ON MY WAY

When we asked De Cylinders to reissue their singles I was hoping that the band had unreleased material. It turns out, they have over an albums worth of well recorded tracks of the same quality as the singles spanning from 1979 to 1982 . Here are a few great tracks from those unreleased sessions.

DOUCE VIOLENCE- FLASH

1.FLASH
2. QUE LA VIE EST BELLE

Recorded in 1978 and on the Sinus label this strange and truly great single fits right in with label mates Hubble Bubble. The only name on the label is Claude "Bobo" Arnou, a disco producer. Supposedly this single was intended to be a punk parody, I have no other information on it. ****Steve From LDK was able to add some much needed info to this post. Be sure to read the comments****
